We are happy to announce the site launch of our client and friend, and wish him great success as a…uhhhh, legendary…Charleston, uhhh, drink…guy. Blending the perfect mix of spices and seasonings, our new bud Ryan is on the forefront of reinventing the Bloody Mary as we know it.

Grab a bottle of Charleston Mix if you see one around the Lowcountry (ie – Piggly Wiggly, Blind Tiger, or here) and make 2 great things happen; 1 – You’ll support a LOCAL company, and 2, – you’ll have an elixir born from pure necessity and inspiration to do better. Mmmm, bittersweet revenge on a lackluster bloody market. We even enjoy ours sans liquor, seriously, give it a try.

Kudos to the 2 essential pieces our trifecta of strategic firepower (ie. Hook and Obviouslee) for a job well done. Now, today being Friday, I had better plan ahead and get over to Harris Teeter for a Saturday morning antidote.

I’m not sure if this is the first video or compilation that has been done in this style, but it does a great job integrating art through the editing process, (and shows the bass player’s sweet White Falcon bass). After seeing this imaginative vid on someone’s blog, were inclined to find out more about the process. Turns out it’s right up our alley.

Fantastic disarm of what could have been a disastrous situation of hurt feelings and ultimately a potentially destructive retaliation…

Dear Yvan and Joshua,

In cruising the web, we came across your site which has the Volvo corporate logotype prominently displayed. It is obvious that you are an avid Volvo supporter and have the best interest of the brand at heart. At the same time, if we do not aggressively defend that Volvo logotype, we will lose control of it. This will ultimately cause the erosion and dilution of the brand we both respect.

For this reason, we would like to ask if you wouldn’t mind changing from using the Volvo logo to just using the word “Volvo” in regular typeface. This will allow people to know of your interest in dealing with the topic of Volvo, yet allow them to understand they are not dealing with the corporate entity of Volvo. We would also ask if you wouldn’t mind indicating at the bottom of your home page “Not Legally Affiliated with AB Volvo, Sweden.”

Your internet home page is a journalistic avenue through which you communicate a unique insight into Volvo based on your experiences, In effect, much like the traditional world of print, radio and TV, you communicate to an audience, albeit electronically. Our Corporate Communications group would like to extend to you an opportunity to be treated as a journalist. Under construction is a methodology to provide “Internet Press Credentials” granting individuals access to press releases, product information, and new model releases.

We trust you can understand our need to protect our brand and that you will take the appropriate steps to help us. We would like to wish you every success with your internet efforts.

Sincerely,
Volvo Cars of North America
Legal Department

Our work for The South Carolina State Guard on The 2010 Medal of Honor Convention online campaign earned us a Gold Addy Award presented by The Charleston Ad Fed. We couldn’t be happier to have our dedication to such an important event and it’s attendees recognized for it’s merit. We hope that the next event in Louisville is one to remember as was the 2010 Convention here in Charleston. Oooh-rah.

Not a huge deal. A occasional pop-in varmint that we befriended in the office suddenly decided to bite at our fingers. We had the opportunity to take the office below and everything is back to normal. It’s business as usual at 58 Broad, thanks to the fact that our move was only a flight of stairs. Thanks to our friends at Lunch & Recess for the assistance in moving the megalith (aka laser printer), downstairs. We owe you one, six or twelve. Your choice.

As the cold weather impairs our abilities to frolic carelessly under the sun-bleached coastal sand and function like normal warm-blooded mammals, we must say that our winter has been a little easier thanks to a fortunate relationship between Jesse and Natalia at Escapada Living, Charleston’s own beach and resortwear clothing line. The product images and tropical nature of the website we recently launched for them have allowed us to harness a sense of summer regardless of what might be happening outside our window.

We delved into the fashion industry like we’ve never done before with this special line of products available at boutiques nation-wide and at quite a few local shops as well. The site itself was a great exercise in robust content management and mood inspiring graphic choices. We love when a project follows what we believe are all of the necessary steps to get to the final piece, and in Escapada’s case, that’s exactly what happened. We thank our friends at Escapada and are very grateful for the opportunities they have presented us.

Though it has been about a month, we wanted to let everyone know how honored we were to be guests at the Medal of Honor Convention’s Patriot’s Dinner and awards ceremony.

We were lucky enough to be selected by The South Carolina State Guard to build a web campaign around the event which took place here in Charleston, and honored the military’s past and present recipients of the Medal of Honor. We managed and promoted the Facebook page, gaining a following of close to 2,900 friends, and were quite a go-to source for all things Medal of Honor. We also created the website, and had a blast with the creative freedom (no pun intended).

For the better part of this past year, our veins were coursing with American Pride as the event drew near. At the start of the weekend, busses and police escorts flooded the streets downtown near our office as many of the recipients staying at the Mills House went from place to place. Finally, with our bestest of friends in tow, we were suited in our finest rented garments and went to the closing event – The Patriot’s Dinner. Nearly all of the living recipients of The Medal of Honor were in attendance. It was truly an event to remember, and will live on in our memories as one of the great projects we’ve had the pleasure to work on.

Didn’t think we would be so drawn into it, but we’re seriously thinking about making the trek up to Louisville next year. Especially if we get another chance to hang with our new friend Lt. Dan.

So I was checking out the new Wired magazine (it’s actually been a few weeks now), when I stumbled across an article about the Tesla Model S which will be hitting showrooms next year, I think.

Damn, I want one. I don’t know why, I guess because it’s pretty cool looking, not everyone will have one and it saves money on gas. It is actually quite cheap for what you’re getting, and seems like something I might be able to talk my wife into over the next few years if I have 50K just kickin’ around. I guess I could use the $7500 environmental tax credit to sweeten the deal. More to come as I devise more of this plan.
